Science week

Posted by on 03/04/2013

During science week 3JH studied some of the Roman inventions and also found out what the Romans brought to Britain.
We carried out an investigation based on Roman armour. The children had to find out which material in school would be the best for Roman armour to be made out of. We decided that Roman armour had to be strong to protect, light weight for long distance marching and flexible for everyday tasks like road building. The children came up with 3 different investigations to test these three requirements of Roman armour.

Can anyone in 3JH explain the investigation that you did?

The children then made a decision of which materials they would use to dress their Roman soldier in armour.

Can anyone remember the names of any of the materials they chose and why?

Here are some photos of the children at work! Photos of the finished soldiers to follow soon.
