Last week in Numeracy we were learning about shapes. First of all we started off my creating 2D shapes with art straws and naming the properties of our shapes. We sorted the shapes we had made at the end of the lesson into some Venn Diagrams. Then we moved onto 3D shapes and used art straws and play dough, plus magnetic construction equipment to create 3D shapes. First of all we copied 3D shapes we knew, such as triangular prisms. This helped us to remember the names of the shapes and work out their properties. Then we made our own 3D shapes for a partner and they had to work out its properties. Here are some photos of the children at work. Who can remember the properties of 2D shapes? Wo can remember the properties of 3D shapes?
